I’m a big advocate for pigeons. I see the true value of a simple bird that has been wrongly characterized. These last 4 years I’ve dedicated my self (loosely) to have them. Yet I still see a huge value in home grown chicken eggs.

I guess a homestead doesn’t rely on just one animal but a combination of animals that fulfill your needs.

I've been thinking about quail (local wild quail, actually), pigeon, and muscovy (technically a goose?).

Why not all three?

Why not right? The only thing I don’t like about quail is that you have to incubate the eggs in order to have more. Pigeons, chickens, ducks are pretty much hands off. Well pigeons for sure are hands off as long as they have water and food. I tried quail but I failed, felt it was too much work.

Those are my thoughts but certainly give anything a try and see what you like best. Maybe in the future I’ll try quails again
