an UTXO ##exist per every available bitcoin you can always put all those utxos in a piece of paper and operate with it if you need more realism
The ledger exists (in computer memory) but the things tracked by the ledger do not exist.
If I tracked the bitcoins on paper the ledger would be just as real as when it was in computer memory and the things tracked just as imaginary.
