I read “You Are Not A Gadget” over a decade ago. He seems like an interesting guy. I have not read the book on social media. It’s not a stretch to think all social media is gathering data on us, mainly for the purpose of generating a “digital double” that could be used for various nefarious purposes.

I read you are not a gadget last year. He highlights many of the problems with social media platforms.
I also read YANAG back in the day. I often don't like or don't agree with Lanier's weird framings but i find them very valuable anyway.
Recently i heard this discussion. It was pretty good.
I've never heard of Yanag before. I'll check him out.
I also don't like or agree with Lanier on everything either. For one thing, he's a no-coiner. 🤮
