#bitvid is a #webtorrent based video client that uses #nostr to post #webRTC #torrent #magnet links. (Using all the tags lol)
Its very early days of development but I'm hoping to prove this is a viable solution for decentralized video platform. If you want to learn more about how it works, check out the "about" page.
Looks cool, but how do you intend to get web torrent working? I've tried to use web torrent multiple times and have always found that it doesn't work well because most browsers have restrictions on web rtc
the one built into brave works pretty well but i prefer a dedicated app... the one in the browser has no state
Its usually a privilege issue with the service worker. I had the same issue at first. But I seem to have it working reliably. It's also very important that the torrent is created by a Webtorrent WebRTC client. Regular Torrent files won't work.

I don't really know what this is, but it avoids a lot of the design mistakes of Flare (which looked almost exactly like bitcoinmagazine and filled a third of the page with an advert for a bitcoin thing).
The content on there also isn't just thumbnails with ai images of bitcoin.

The service worker needs root access to the site files that are cached on device. Some browsers like Tor block these actions so there's not much that can be done.
I don't know what you mean by more details about my setup. This is all I can tell you:
I use Nostr Connect extension for signer. Your site shows me a login failure message in pink highlighting before I even clicked the login with nostr button. My signer pops up as always, asking me to approve, but nothing happens when I click the button. I can see video thumbnails with title, author, etc. and click through, and that above screenshot shows what comes up with most of the vids on the main page. That is all.
Ok, thanks! At the moment I have in place a white list of npubs that can login. This is to prevent the posting of things like CP of adult content until I have a better way of allowing users to create block lists and content tags.
I was able to reproduce this bug using Firefox so I should be able to fix. 👍
