Pigeons are so cool. They're one of the only 'large birds' that are capable of vertical takeoff. They will take their wings and “clap” them together above themselves on the up stroke. The wings are then peeled apart and “flung,” followed by a regular downstroke. This increases lift by reducing the Wagner Effect.

Pigeons only live 2 years, but I think they're like Neo in the matrix. Their ability to move fast, for example dodging cars and city mayhem, everything we see would be in slow motion to them.
