9 years ago I experienced my first earthquake, first morning waking up in my new home in LA, and I didn’t know what was happening.
My mind rotated through a carousel of potential explanations: Did something fall on the house? Helicopter crash? Dam break? Aneurism?
I didn’t have internet or TV service yet but I instinctively picked up my phone, opened Twitter, and somehow managed to type #earthquake in the search.
From that day forward I always used the app to validate if what I felt was an earthquake and not one of the aforementioned possibilities.
