lol. I love the bins that have two lids but go to the same recepticle.
A slap right in the face of your inner child.
For several years, it's turned out, the City of Dallas sent recyclables to the same dump as other trash. They couldn't clean and process the materials in a cost effective way (duh), and it was easier to lie about it than find another solution.
Especially for those who wash out the containers before recycling.
For so many years I engaged in this humiliation ritual and shamed my own parents for fucking it up.
I know different communities have different pickup instructions. But regardless. If one person on your street messes up the 'sort' everything in that trucks haul gets tossed.
Such a waste of time effort AND resources
The garbage itself could actually be a valuable resource if we burned it for fuel/energy
It allows me to get 2 full sized bins, and 3 pickup days per week. Since it's a scam, they shouldn't mind regular trash getting tossed in the recycling container as an overflow
This what gets my family riled right up. Not Only can I get them to see the scam behind it. But they will literally sort my bins sometimes.
We are gaslit to think it's our fault we have so much trash and we must spend our time sorting things. But also use our tax money to haul away and 'process' it.
When really there should be no pickup and only a drop off site or community bin headed straight to the incinerator
