It starts with being an active member in your local Bitcoin meetup. Bring your products to sell, barter, trade to meetups. If you don't have a local meetup, start one.

First you need a physical good or in person service to offer. So much developer worship here and not enough blue collar builder support. As a community I think we need to decide to engage with and especially zap that content more.

After that, local meetups are the way.

I don't do nostr at all for our small business because I don't want address tied to npub by any customers. Margins are small enough that shipping doesn't make much sense anyway.

Now if only I could find a way to stop having schedule conflicts when my local meetup happens.

Do you have any follow recommendations? I’m always looking for more blue collar folks on here. I haven’t found a whole lot but I’ve only been here about 8 months. I hope Nostr grows and becomes less of a tech nerd/dev circle jerk

I try to make a point of posting more of my DIY where I remember also but I post a lot more anti government stuff than hands on.

Checking the follow lists of these people will also get you more. There's some pre built list service somewhere as well with a bunch of farmers as other trades too.

Yeah, I’m following all those guys already. I pretty much do the same. Any time I do something worth posting I usually don’t realize it until after I’m done. Then I go “shit, I should have documented this”

I try to post most of my lifestyle stuff over BTC content.. got plans for the future, be intersting if they ever become more than plans.

Right on, I’m already following you. I’m kinda in the same spot, I’m just trying to get stuff going right now. Nothing really content worthy yet

Yeah, i followed you back. Lets see what we can build 👍🏻

I agree 100%. Been trying to find more blue collar folks and artisans etc here. Honestly that stuff is what gets me the most pumped on nostr. 1000x more than shitposting and constant btc/dev/politics/doom porn. I mean I love btc…but more local craftsmen and trades, artists, businesses. All that stuff.

Great point. I may be starting one if I can’t find one. How do you all handle opsec and anonymity with meetups if you don’t mind me asking? I’m assuming different people do different things. Nym on nostr and meetups? I haven’t really ever navigated that and am figuring out what I want to do/how to do it. Because I see value in it for protecting your personal life and identity and family. No person is obligated to reveal everything about themselves. Privacy is intricately linked to freedom imo. But I also think when you talk about local economies and communities at small scale there is something to a handshake, a helping hand, a face to a name kind of thing. Any advice or thoughts on that?

It's up to the individual ultimately, but the biggest thing as a group is no pictures or video is permitted unless announced and allowing people to remove themselves or mask up.
