A line clearance crew hooked us up with two truck loads of wood chips a couple days ago. I’m looking forward to getting as much of the farm mulched as I can over this four day weekend. It’s going to be a lot of work but it should save me a lot of time come spring when time is the most scarce.

Reorganized my “90% bags” this morning. The bigger bag has what I use 90% of the time when installing or modernizing elevators and lives on my cart daily. The smaller bag is my trouble call bag, I can get a broken down elevator back up and running with it 90% of the time. The stuff I use for the other 10% fills up a Dodge 5500 with an 11ft service bed.

Unless you are towing a camping trailer or have large kids that would be too cramped in the back seat of a smaller pickup, I would say a Toyota Tacoma. Toyotas might be an exception to the ashtray rule, even the new ones are reliable and cheap to maintain
It was a good day

Depends on what kind of job the truck is going to have. Personally I think a good rule of thumb is if it doesn’t have an ashtray it’s too new. If you’re buying something with ashtrays you probably don’t need to spend 20k unless it’s a highly sought after, well preserved truck.
7 years off the booze today.
If you can drink like a normal person that’s cool, I can’t. Without going into too much detail, I had 3 major life events happen all within 3 weeks of each other that made it abundantly clear I was on a path to destroy my life if I continued to drink.
While it really sucked at the time, I’m very grateful things went down the way they did. If those 3 events happened say within a 3 year span instead of 3 weeks, I doubt I would have came to my senses.
I don’t credit myself much for my sobriety, of course it takes will power and discipline but those are gifts from God. Also, my dad, a recovering alcoholic who has been sober since he found out my mom was pregnant with me has been a huge support on this journey.
If your drinking causes any issues in your life I encourage you to give it up, it’s doable and worth it. 7 years ago I never could have imagined my life would look like it does today. I hope no one takes this as judgement. If you have a healthy relationship with alcohol, carry on. I envy you a little bit.
1x conversion on the dad bike. Old school downhill mountain bike parts definitely make your dorky dad bike faster 🚴♂️💨 now I think the forks need to be painted black

Isn’t this the psychedelic that’s a guaranteed terrible time?
After a couple months of pure neglect, the dad bike is getting some love tonight

Started harvesting pecans last night

Man, I haven’t ridden like that in years. I still split lanes but not like this. Those are awesome bikes. One of these days I’ll get a proper adventure bike
Read it in 2 days while at work doing standby. Nothing too new to me really. More of an affirmation that we’re on the right path with our little farm. If you’re interested in natural farming or natural food it’s worth a read.

It appears your adjusted pretty well. Arguing online is a symptom of the sick society, not the solution. I’m being a hypocrite, I’m out for real this time. All the best to you and yours
I’m almost always on Primal. Problem occurred after jumping on Damus for a day. Noticed it after switching back to Primal but still have the problem when using Damus
“Watts philosophy is a justification of naturalistic hedonism, however refined. It exploits the doctrines of numerous religions to do this, denying them when he sees fit, judging everything by his own hedonistic standards. This is dishonest. If he wishes to cite religious doctrines, he should take them in context and should take all of them. By picking and choosing he makes it obvious that he does not take them seriously; they are toys to him, for he is God. He joins the ranks of the pseudo-religious preachers…Looking back, it is obvious that he had simply caught the right wavelength, followed it all the way and made his career out of it, made lots of money, and attracted many followers. Some of what he taught was true, especially about modern civilization. But he gave only some pitifully small shred of truth combined with a lot of his own opinions, and in the end a great system of lies; and he destroyed souls, including his own undoubtedly.”

I agree with you that all Christians are not on the same path but pope Francis didn’t. He said even other religions are on the same path.
"All religions are paths to God. I will use an analogy, they are like different languages that express the divine.”

When I was a little kid I used to get pissed if someone called me Joe, I’d correct them and tell them “My name is Joseph!” 😤😂
People amaze me sometimes. Dude just tried to walk through my barricade and asked “Is this elevator working?”
“Uhh, nah dawg.”

Not quite. MIG welding outside and the wind was blowing the shield gas away so I had to make a wind barrier

My apprentice’s tummy hurt or something so I got to re-rope an elevator by myself. Kind of slow going without any help but I got it done.

Weekend progress on some projects
Cleaned out the interior of the new Loadstar project. I think this was the nastiest interior I’ve had to deal with since I bought my 1st 2 IH Scouts when I was 14. Found a dead bird, a dead rat, animal shit, rats nests, and the usual wasp and spider infestation. Still need to polish things up but I’m glad the dirty work is done.
Swapped out rear coil springs and control arm bushings on the ZJ. It rides super nice with the new dual rate long travel coils, can’t wait to see what it rides like once the front ones are in too. Both the old springs and new springs are 2” lift springs, crazy how much longer the new springs are.

I did as a teenager, but not anymore. I still race BMX but I’m not super serious about it. It’s fun, good exercise, and it gets my dad and I together on a weekly basis. That’s really all it’s about for me.
I appreciate it. Bitcoin is cool but you can’t forget to live too
Glad to hear it. Social media has always been about cars, trucks, and bikes for me. Not much of that going on here. Just trying to be the change I want to see 🤷♂️
