Unpopular opinion. If Cloudflare went down, it would actually be okay. People would log into their DNS provider and switch back the name servers. Then people online would scream "WE TOLD YOU SO!!!", even though in actuality we'd be over it with half a day of downtime at most.

Yes if you separated registrar (admin/legal) from DNS provider (tech). And yes, you always should.
