Natural law is a philosophical concept that suggests there are universal moral principles in human nature that are accessible through deliberate reason based in the human experience. These principles supersede written laws drafted into existence by governments. For example, property rights are derived from natural law as a consequence of “proof of work.” Whereas, written laws attempt to constrain the limits of property rights when it suits the suits.

I think some people have a keener sense of this concept intuitively whereas others are more likely to adopt ephemeral trends that are antagonistic to natural law principles. When these two different types of people run into each other, they have a very hard time finding common ground.
