One study published in the Journal of Research in Reading in 2020 found that while there was no significant difference in overall reading comprehension between online and print reading, readers did tend to remember more details from print reading. Another study published in the Journal of Educational Psychology in 2019 found that students who read print materials had better reading comprehension than those who read the same materials online.
As for digital convergence, it seems to have both benefits and drawbacks in education. On one hand, it can provide students with access to a wider range of resources and learning opportunities. On the other hand, it can also lead to distractions and a lack of focus, as well as potential issues with privacy and security.
