Maybe he didn't. I get extremely annoyed by friends and family saying things like "bitcoin is up big today", or "bitcoin took a shit this week" describing any sort of normal price movements. Sometimes I check the price, every couple weeks maybe.
Everyone in my small circle who talks like that is a coinbase tourist or no-coiner.
