I was recently convinced into nostr damus by my husband thinking that we were zapping and receiving zaps to show appreciation for work or hobbies that people are showing. If they feel forced to zap, maybe we should at least have reaction buttons to show how they feel instead of just a “like” button. The like button seems too nonchalant.

There’s a lot of misinformation about this feature. It does not disable likes for other people. It just turns off likes for people who enable it. I don’t see why anyone would be upset about this.
You are basically only giving them an option to respond OR zap, which they are zapping, but are receiving ‘likes’ instead. It would make me feel like it’s unfair and I would consider leaving nostr.
You don’t have to enable it… nothing has changed for most users. This is for a select few users who prefer not to use likes.
Maybe if you give onlyzappers the option to toggle the features on their posts to remove or have the like button on the post for others to either onlyzap/respond or all options
The feature as implemented today ONLY changes the view for the user who enabled OnlyZaps. Nobody else sees any change and can still like their posts.
Maybe this was lost in the #onlyzaps name, but it’s really about zaps and comments. If you are inclined to like something, you can do that with a comment. I have found I am engaging in comments more without having the 🤙 to default to. #onlyzapsandcomments
I routinely like probably 50 memes a day. I do zap sometimes. But I also don't want to comment on every one yet still want to show support. Likes are the most time efficient by far.
Was thinking more along the lines of users being able to go to their profile setting to remove the like button from other users on their profile. Comment , repost, or zap only for your notes only
