It represents a wider problem with people's inability to critically think for themselves.

We should stop theorising in place of practising. And stop delegating our opinions in place of forming them through our own experiences.

I've known for a long time that eggs make me feel better than bagels and never needed a doctor to give me permission to think this way.

I too am pissed off. Wait till they do a money pyramid.

Unfortunately its basically impossible to teach critical thinking. They try... And fail. Everything they teach amounts to simulating the appearance of critical thinking, but actual critical thinking only emerges after some threshold of getting pissed off is passed.

I like to think you can encourage it by stirring people to ask questions, but it ultimately comes down to a yearning for truth. That can only come from within. Most people are content with their granola-fuelled illusion.
