Americans are just as subject to authoritarian rule as anywhere else, even if through a veil of "democracy". The hoodwink is assuming voting fixes this.
Americans have historically been allowed to vote for third-party candidates in presidential and congressional elections. It has been their FREE choice not to.

"Gifting" democracy to a population not ready for it is always a disaster and almost certainly a scam. Freedom has to be taken, cannot be gifted, as much as forced slavery is no longer common.
