I do feel like it's overhyped but it is pretty cool. Tried it out today. It's gonna be genuinely good for a lot of things and it expands the utility of nostr too. Great for communication where there is no internet for example.

Yes. Bitchat is just a realtime chat version of nostr that also works over Bluetooth mesh networks. So it does less but also more.
What's nice is you can bitch at each other over Bluetooth with no relay setup needed, and the messages also disappear.
Then nostr has all the great features we love. And bitchat can be used to send people nostr note links too.
that whole bluetooth thing is hilarious. obviously useless compared to whispering to someone because at bluetooth distances you can hear them whisper.
but if it was where nodes were connecting and sharing their recent events with each other, it would be something like a kinda-sneakernet mesh, with all that fun latency. bitchsync.

About a fifth of a mile, but the range can be extended if more people are connected because it’s a mesh network. So say I’m at the max range, and someone is in the middle, and the other person is at max range in the other direction, then it’ll extend range
