Although I generally agree lol. I would probably just say some people are poor (I am some people).

I dont want to sound like I'm arguing tho.... I also suspect most devs are here cos they believe they will be profitable with nostr in the future.

I think this sounds like I am arguing, despite everything 😀

I think most devs are here for freedom go up tech

Also true, I don't think these are mutually exclusive(?) I also suspect 'freedom tech' is likely to be increasingly profitable (whether that is Nostr or not is unknown).

Devs have been reluctant to set prices, so that they don't accidentally lock people out, who can't afford them.

That has led to the idea that everything should be completely free to use for everyone forever, but satoshis have 8 decimal places.

We should simply experiment with different pricing models.

nostr21.com costs 21 sats one-time and just offers spam protection and good management, nostr.wine costs a lot, but opens you up to their other premium services and the filter.

I suspect it's a bit too early for pricing services on nostr, I think most people here would be fine with it. I'm thinking with the idea of reaching a wider audience (especially beyond b!tcoin twitter expats) and growing. There's already a lot of barriers of entry culturally, content/topic, general confusion etc etc. I think it could put off the curious, especially if they come with 0 sats.πŸ€” imo, obvs

great point this, hadn't thought of it like that

NOSTR will evolve like FREEMIUN - TEIRED level of access IF WANT TO INCLUSIVE OF ALL REGIONS in WORLD

in Cuba monthly salary is $20 in Norway need to pay for breakfast $20 - imagine how to include user from these 2 places?

PAY FLAT FEE FOR ANY SERVICE is FLAW for sure - PAY PER USE and PAY based LEVEL is only works out.

There are much more profitable things we can be doing with our time and money, like earning fiat and buying Bitcoin with it. No way to beat the returns on that, especially before the having.

Nobody is here just for possible future profits, but that would be nice. πŸ˜‚ Otherwise, at some point, we'll all just be broke, and everyone will be like, "Shoulda just worked overtime and bought more Bitcoin."

Lol true. Maybe it's only a smattering of devs who think this lol

Also I don't think it's * just * that. I think it is very possible that nostr (or something like nostr... 'freedom tech' or whatever you want to call it) will indeed be profitable. I think it's both on principle of online freedom and that is potentially profitable. I think that's a fairly sensible speculation if so. I don't know lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It might be profitable, but Bitcoin is the only real investment game in town.

I guess we're all just not primarily driven by money, but that doesn't mean we want to work for negative-pay indefinitely.
