I don't see what's wrong about that perspective. Once financial institutions come into the picture the game gets more complex.

The last contentious fork was pushed by big money players. They threw money around to influence the fork, IMO in a naive way, and lost bigly. How will it play out when big money is 10x or 100x bigger and more sophisticated?

It's an important concern. Not sure what can be done but not considering this possibility is definitely a mistake.

Okay that's very well said. I haven't thought about it all that much thought I don't think the bitcoin community as a whole is ready for something like this.
