I've always argued against the use of third-party virus scanners. If you're on Windows, Windows Defender does a pretty damn good job for what it is And it's actually built to work with windows.
I'm not really sure what a proper solution is for Linux though, if I'm being honest.
Windows Defender makes your laptop overheat and slows it down t o a crawl. DIsable the Malware/AV scanner and it's perfect

I haven't used windows in a few years. Ever since I left my IT job, I haven't really touched that environment.
Windows is malware. Best to avoid it.
