pre-industrial agrarian are tight, though it's not as if they intend it, that's how they evolved and survived, plus they don't really improve, rather stay the same, think circular like the seasons. if you want improvement, think Singapore, middle-Europe or Scandanavia, though then not sure about community in terms of intimacy
