Its memorable, that's all that matters

A cooler name would have made it worse tbh.

We've got bad branding, clunky and temperamental software, firey argumentative devs, circlejerking Bitcoin and Nostr maximalists, and so on.

It's like walking into the wild west. Nostr as a name gives you second thoughts, which means you'll jump in without weird expectations of utopia that would accompany a better name, which I think is better.

NOSTR is the best name... It confuses people right off the bat. Then you get to try to explain what a protocol is.

I remember when everyone thought Google was a stupid name. If it’s good, people will use it, then I’d guess later nostr will be the obvious best name.

Think that in Italian Nostr sounds a lot like saying "our".
