Anyone else use float trips/camping to flex your prepper gear? This is what I got for Christmas to add to my stack (plus the tent I bought for myself). I always have the most comfortable canoe, but part of that is cuz I also have my own canoe

Yes, also I like camping and floating
You got a bed Matt rec? I seem to have misplaced mine.
Thermorest 100%
I just use the thermarest z lite folding foam pad. It makes a good camp seat folded up. Its not much, but its all I need. I got used to it on a distance backpacking trip.

Gotta test everything often too
Yeah, been considering doing some more cold weather camping just to see how my sleeping bag does when it's cold.
usual story is it's marketed for "outdoor camping conditions" but doesn't work or function in the field. Gotta try it before you get stuck in a situation with failing equipment. God knows I've been through it.
Lol yeah, especially cuz we always go in the summer, I basically haven't needed a sleeping bag, but have it just to insulate from the ground.
My annual hiking trip always ends with us sharing our coolest new piece of (lightweight) gear, that everyone else has by the following year.
Yeah, my tent this year is cuz mine was 10 years old, and I really didn't enjoy the rain while he was dry. I was the first one to bring a speaker. We're still weak on the cooking gear cuz cast iron plus the Coleman stove is heavy, but I also have a fold down firepit which is steel, that is heavy, but turned out to be a game changer of getting a fire going when it's raining so it's worth it to me.
We’ve gotten consistently lighter, thankfully. Little $5 rocket stoves on Amazon (smaller than a bar of soap) are a God send.
A long float is definitely on the list, in the coming years.
I think we are spoiled with the canoes VS hiking trips. Most of the trip is spent napping and drinking with the occasional paddle.
We do a “Survival” Weekend camping trip every year. It’s such a great time to test out the gear and your knowledge of attempting to live off the land.
Happy New Year!
Ohhh, might have to get the wife on board.
This is cool. We do backpacking trips once a month in the summer. Never done a float trip. I think I'd have a great time
Highly recommend, MO has great rivers. If you do it like us and camp on the river with all your gear in the canoe, you can paddle past all the partyers and have the place to yourself for the weekend.
