I talked to an old friend yesterday. He hasn't outgrown eat the rich mentality yet. Turns out he is also poor, barely employed, and couch surfing lonely older lady couches (by his own admission) so that makes sense. His thesis is that there shouldn't be billionaires because they dont use their money. I tried to explain that having a lot of equity in a company you built is not the same thing as a dragon sitting on a pile of gold coins. This is really hard for people to understand. (without addressing whether the dragon has done anything wrong in any case). I worry about him, and love him, but I think he's obsessed with the romantic poverty of victomhood.

I have friends like these who have good paying jobs. Their salaries are higher than mine, yet they are perpetually stuck in this victimhood mentality, mostly because they are too blinded by hatred to better their own situation.
Politics has become a crutch for them to use as an excuse as to why they are unhappy. It's their political enemy's fault that their life isn't what they want it to be.
The best medicine I ever took is when one day I woke up and realized no one is coming to save me.
I see a red flag (often quite literally) when people stuck their nose in other man's property.👀
I wouldn't recommend him for a blind date.
It's common. I have a friend you described perfectly...for a while.
He did outgrow the eat the rich mentality I suppose. Now, he thinks demons and gods are all that's real anymore (via a web of theories) and they're driving every detail of his and everyones existence. _That's why you should be as angry as I am_
"Romantic poverty of victimhood" pushed to maximum nihilistic conclusions. He leaves himself no room for growth in his personal life or soul. It's kind of hard to watch.
I’m sorry to hear that. Lots of struggle to go around.
There will be more and more people like him in the future, and that’s exactly why we need to store our wealth in a way that doesn’t get caught in the government’s digital system. Ah, democracy...
“Romantic Poetry of Victimhood”
I like to think that “Religions are systems for managing collective self esteem”. There’s a moral framework backing the self loathing leftists filled with envy.
