In the previous versions yes. But I nuked my account back when the app was unreliable. As of recently no
Groups were really slow for me. Otherwise it was a decent app. Image downloads often failed.
Have you tried a recent build? To see if there was improvement
Just opened it. Groups appear as slow as before. Can't post till the messages sync, and there's hundreds of them.
So definitely better for 1 on 1 chats than for groups…
Yes. 1on1 is fast. But groups shouldn't even exist at all when they're slow like that. Yet SimpleX mildly pushes them.
Do you know at what group size it starts being slow? Or any group and the experience is terrible?
I don't have the exact numbers. It also depends on your connection speed too. Around 1,000 it breaks down is my guess. Easy to DoS something like that. Just create a ton of profiles and connect till the group is unusable.

Yeah, but if you want 1K people to see your posts. Then Nostr is a lot faster.
Ah now I understand. You use it a bit like the huge telegram groups. I was thinking of a use case just to DM 1on1 or with a small group of people, less than 10 people.
Yeah, groups is the killer feature many people installed telegram. Nostr adds easy IP obfuscation and no phone number requirement.
For 1on1 I just use whatsapp or sms cause that's where the people are.
