Maybe they’re trying to find the shooter first making sure that they know who they’re dealing with

Maybe. There are also some kinda suspiciously amazingly well composed photos of a defiant Trump with bloodied face raising his fist in the air and an American flag set nicely in the background…
I think a more honest description would be “loud noises thought by everyone we have spoken to to be gun shots.” And some reporting on non-target casualties.
Assassination attempts happen all over the world all the time and there’s a reason why former presidents are given Secret Service for the rest of their lives. I don’t think he can stand out in the open anymore. I also think it’s completely possible for someone to try to do the same to Biden. I guess what I’m trying to say is thankfully, he was not hurt. Nor was anyone else.
No one is worried about Biden. He's not relevant and doesn't actually run anything. If anything, he's well placed with Kamala as his VP.
No one wants that on either side. Biden is safe.
Two dead, if you include the shooter. The other was an attendee.
Other than the source of the details of the events are not cited, this is good reporting.
As Trump was talking, a popping sound was heard, and the former president put his right hand up to his right ear. People in the stands behind him appeared shocked.
Trump appeared to lower himself behind the lectern and the sounds — apparent gunshots — continued as Secret Service agents rushed the stage.
Trump’s microphone picked up the sound of people yelling “Get down, get down, get down” while at least three agents piled on top of him.
The apparent gunshot sound was heard again several times while agents were on him. People in the crowd screamed.
Someone’s voice was heard through the microphone asking “Are we good?” Secret Service agents in tactical gear stood on the stage, some looking out to the crowd.
A voice was heard saying, “Shooter’s down.” Then a voice said, “We’re clear” and “Let’s move.”
