GM Nostr!

I’m excited to share more about what I’m building and why. My project is Seer, a consumer-friendly, NIP-29 enabled application that's native to Apple platforms. Why Apple first? That's where my expertise lies. I believe the Nostr ecosystem needs more apps that are intuitive for newcomers while delivering exceptional performance and leveraging the latest platform features.

Seer will concentrate on NIP-29 relay-based group communications. I'm staying focused on making group interactions seamless and efficient, without trying to encompass all of Nostr's capabilities. This approach echoes what nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m pointed out a while back about the value of "micro apps" — tools that do one thing exceptionally well.

Additionally, Seer will be powered by my Swift Nostr libraries, Nostr and NostrClient. While there are some excellent options out there, I plan to develop and adapt these libraries specifically to fit Seer’s needs. This doesn't mean they can’t be used for other Nostr projects, but my primary goal is to ensure they serve Seer’s requirements optimally and conveniently.

I'm looking forward to bringing Seer into your hands and making Nostr even more accessible to everyone. Stay tuned!

Nice name!

Thanks! I’ve had it for a while. Initially Seer was to be a dm client, but I abandoned it since at the time nip04 was the only choice. When nostr:npub180cvv07tjdrrgpa0j7j7tmnyl2yr6yr7l8j4s3evf6u64th6gkwsyjh6w6 started telling me about nip29 it felt like the perfect fit!

In English for those of us who are not developers, what are you making?

iOS native group chat app (powered under the hood, transparently, by nostr)

Nice. Great summary.

That’s all I needed.

👆 good description but also adding macOS, iPad and potentially visionOS.

Later will also work on other platforms using their respective native platform languages and tools.

Also to clarify the nip29 could enable us to remove dependency on group chat tools like slack, telegram and discord. It will start slow, but if it catches on it will be 🔥

That was English.

Oh wow, I am also working on the Nip-29 group for 0xChat, and I’d love to work with you, especially regarding group compatibility between our two clients.

Sure! My plan is to stick with nip29 so if your app works with that it should be easy! But happy to talk sometime 🙏

Fuck yes! Small, single-purpose, high-polish native apps powered by nostr. This is the way.

Man, I just switched to GrapheneOS a few months ago.

Luckily I still have an iPad sitting around.

After apple platform apps are finished I will move to Android development if it catches on.

What about PWAs?

Web tech is not really my jam. I understand the need, but I’m focusing on what I know best and the where I can provide value. There are plenty of web devs out there! 🙏

Makes sense. Push the needle as far as you can where you are best suited to do so!

I look forward to seeing what you create here.

Good luck to your project sirr ✊🏻🍀

i hope whatever youre building works on intel macs and/or older ios devices
