People on Nostr aren't a good representation of the average person in our society. The average person doesn't value freedom like we do.

I think, just like the '20-30s Germany, economic hardship will bring anger. There will be a counterrevolt against the 'moral' decay, corruption and inequality of the modern day world.
Half the people will blame capitalism (and believe the authorities) and will opt for more government control, the other half will blame the first half for leading us here. The only way for them (both) most likely won't be one of freedom and tolerance....
Even though it might play a part, human conflict isn't caused be algorithms.
In the example of this conflict, I can confidently say it is stoked by government education. The amount and acceptance of Marxist ideology in public school is alarming.
But you are right. At the end of the day the polarization comes down to how confident one is in their own abilities, mixed with how selfish a person they are. Government education has just allowed to great of selfish thinking, and has instilled reliance on government.
