Introducing filter.nostr.wine from your favorite paid relay winos🍷. This is currently only available to members of the https://nostr.wine paid relay.

The purpose of this relay is to supplement users who want to use only paid relays with public relay data that is relevant to them or people close to them. In addition, the relay provides full coverage for profiles, note replies, and DMs outside of your paid relay network from our own public relay aggregator. This relay is read-only and drops write events.

To use the relay add wss://filter.nostr.wine/YOUR_NPUB to your relay list. Be aware that some clients will strip this out and not work with this relay. Only paid nostr.wine member pubkeys will be accepted.

For this initial release, new sign ups won’t automatically get added to the whitelist so if you are new to nostr.wine and want to try it out please reply. We’ll be adding auto whitelisting shortly.

Very cool. Does relay.nostr.wine also broadcast user events to other popular relays? Want to make sure my events are still going out broadly!

At this time filter.nostr.wine is read only. You would still need to write events to public relays separately.

We absolutely plan on adding this soon as an optional parameter for the relay. We would broadcast your events to some amount of top public relays.

That would be great! My only worry is that if I remove popular relays from my list right now then my events will never end up on the bigger relays. Kind of need both broadcasting and event syncing to totally eliminate the need for those relays on my client. These are great developments though! Well done!

This is exactly what we want as well so it will be coming!

How’s it working? We patched a few bugs on the fly still monitoring logs.

It won’t be every single event but it should provide really good coverage for you. Give it a try!

We just added the ability to optionally broadcast to filter.nostr.wine. Add the relay as wss://filter.nostr.wine/YOUR_NPUB?broadcast=true and you will also broadcast all of your messages to the following public relays:

relay.damus.io

nos.lol

relay.current.fyi

relay.snort.social

We will add brb.io when the performance is more stable.

If you do not include the parameter, your events will be ignored by this relay.

Now you can have all the reach of the largest public relays, full coverage of notes, profiles, and DMs without all the spam!

Now add ?broadcast=true to the end of your pubkey in your filter.nostr.wine relay and you’ll be able to broadcast to big public relays while staying spam free!
