No, not "an authority" but even a handful of references to similar lines of thought or a few verifyable connections to history, law, etc.

You're familiar with "don't trust, verify", right? This guy (and you) is asking me to trust him 100% and I refuse. If I did, wouldn't that make *him* "an authority"?
