Just a personal observation:
Everyone that follows 1000+ accounts on #Nostr seems to be having a very positive experience and usually more engaged.
Tip: If you are having a poor experience using Nostr find more accounts to follow via hashtags of your interests and/or introduce yourself to #plebchain with a “follow for follow” message at the end of your note.

Another alternative is to follow hashtag. On amethyst you can simply search the hashtag and the follow button will appear
Simply following #plebchain already make a huge difference to my feed
Or whenever you see a post with hashtag. You can simply tap on the hashtag to then follow it
