So I'm just going to say this and I expect to get lambasted by saying this. 🤷

Using Cashu can make you a criminal. Apparently internationaly too.

I'm a Bitcoiner. I'm not a criminal.

At least not yet.

"If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so." - Thomas Jefferson

president of the United States from 1801 to 1809

That's great. Amazing sentiment. The world and tech are much different and more sophisticated since 1809.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with it.

You enemy can use this moderate privacy tool against you. Bitcoin needs privacy at the base layer.

Wtf kind of take is this...

That's the exact kind of take the legacy financial system has over #Bitcoin. It may not be fully private, but it's definitely anonymous.

Unfortunate that there are still so many people that do not understand technologies are tools and protocols are languages.

Soon enough they'll have us censoring code too. Fuck that.

#Cashu improves on pretty much everything in custodial solutions. Best of all, it's optional. But no, let's bash it. Let's bash tor while we're at it too. Nevermind the fact that many people around the world can BENEFIT and even have their lives SAVED by such tools.

Cashu is no more illegal than using lightning

I understand that. My concern is that I am an adult worker. I already face being locked up for bullshit reasons. With that comes phone confiscation.

If it can be used to hide taxes, it will be used that way. Not everyone will, and I understand that. However perception of what I am doing will Garner the lowest acumen observations by the law and the assumption will be I am using it to hide what I do.

My concern has me thinking about the adult industry members that I onboard all the time. I have no intention of controlling what people do, but I know that some in my profession don't always protect themselves properly.

Jack invented a fob that holds the block chain in your pocket and you can confirm a transaction without going over the Internet at all. No phone even needed at all. That's a simple privacy tool.

Privacy and anonymity come with CASHU and I understand that. I guess it is just not for me because it seems overly complicated to use atm. Yes it is fast. However time is money and I can only imagine having to explain it to every customer I'd like to pay me with it.

I apologize if I came across as accusatory. My snarky statements were motivated by the hour and my sleepy musings. People have messaged me and talked to me about it and I understand it better now.

So please go Nuts. Enjoy using it.

If it works for you that's great. I've been at this for about 8 years now and am still learning that I don't know a lot at all.

I humbly wish you all the best.

RE: fob that holds the block chain in your pocket and you can confirm a transaction without going over the Internet at all

So you have to meet up in meatspace to transact? Sounds dangerous. If mailed, what if it gets lost? Sounds sketchy.

It's not sketchy. It is Jack's, From Twitter invention.

I hate to tell you, that's not a privacy tool. That's just a hardware wallet. Everything you do on it is transparent unless you are passing it around from person to person, which would be a bad idea because you/they could get rugged. Of course if you did want actual offline privacy you would use an opendime https://store.coinkite.com/store/opendime

I use a Trezor.

Check my post/comment history. I know far too well what you are talking about here. #cashu is only meant to be used for tiny amounts of sats. If you use cashu for large amounts then you are doing it wrong. The bigger issue here is that there is no tax software for lightning.

I take it all back. I said this in ignorance. I didn't understand it at all.

If lighting ever fails, I'll try it out.
