Element Server Suite, on the Matrix Network.

Until Nostr is ready and capable for these use-cases, it'll be our go to, and has been for the past 4 years since we moved our Gaming community off Discord and family off other chat apps.

Hosting a server is super easy now, and in just a year it's night and day compared to just a year ago as they nail in the spec for Matrix 2.0 - https://github.com/element-hq/ess-helm

We federate with other Matrix servers and communities.

Too centralised.

Little control.

No transparency.

No thanks.

Finally migrated my infrastructure to a new connection manager.

Highly, highly recommend xpipe.io.

In a couple clicks it can trace your infrastructure a bare-metal host, virtualised environment with VMs and LXCs, down to the docker or kubernetes containers.

Along with syncing everything encrypted to my private gitea repo, this is a killer solution as far as connection managers go!

Ignoring the problem and normalising it is why this never becomes reality.

And who you're supporting.

Bulletproof, cohesive, rational argumentation right here...

All this does is sow division.

This mindset is the very nest of partisanship.

It ends no conflict. It ensures its prolonging.

I start thinking this is the whole point.

The fact that it's such a US thing should really make one question it as such a done-to-death topic. It's the soap opera you can't let go of.

This "left" and "right" thing is such a US thing.

And over the decades I've only seen it pushed against other borders.

It's clever division that brews cyclical conflict.

And never ends because people always have some to blame but themselves.

Stop compartamentalising people you "generally" disagree with, and you'll find the true threat.

#Portainer or #Komodo?

https://www.portainer.io/

https://komo.do/

I'm currently using Portainer but strongly considering a full migration of my 6 prod servers to Komodo.

Latest available is 0.2.7 from June.

Guessing there will be a new one soon with a potential fix?

I think you're right, I've had issues with apps refreshing and finding updates.

Thanks! Will try the new version.

Assuming you're the uploaders of the Element X app on the Zapstore as it's signed by yourselves, unsure if you're aware but there's been a security disclosure today as announced a month ago:

https://element.io/blog/coordinated-matrix-security-update/

The latest release (3 days ago) is supported to deal with the security issue, and would be great if it was made available on the store as soon as possible.

Much appreciated!

Everyone that's been trading their fiat in for Bitcoin using CEXs and KYC, is about to get a rude awakening.

Back in 2014 when KYC started becoming more common, we knew it was a bad idea.

Enter the 2018s, 2019s and y'all became complacent - Looking at NGU after the block size wars, you thought we won. And well, we did, just maybe not you so much.

They KNOW you OWN Bitcoin, in some way, shape or form. And knowledge is power.

They will hold that over you, unless you (try to) run.

They will use it against you, unless you (try to) run.

They will demand tax on your unrealized gains.

They will come for you.

You'll argue you don't hold any, lost it in a boating accident, and they'll say "prove it".

You're in their territory.

Bitcoin is GFY money, when you MAKE IT your territory by *fully* opting out.

It was never about partial opt-out. Maybe you missed the memo.

There is no compromise to be made here.

There never was.

It was just a simple choice. To opt out, or not.

With the recent drama in financial censorship in videogame stores, makes me think Nostr could work for this.

PoW-powered videogame store.

A game is given its own nsec/npub identity.

Developers upload the game using PoW.

Review system is also PoW-based.

PoW and sats (limited extent on the latter) influence the score of a game.

Any game above a certain threshold is made part of a discovery/indexation system that puts these front and center.

Slop titles are pushed down as users mark it as such.

Good titles become more and more discoverable.

How well do you think LNDHub will be supported into the foreseeable future by Zeus?

I'm asking because it seems like it's the only way I can connect Zeus to my LNbits wallet (NWC is a no go apparently), but LNDHub seems like it's only supported by Zeus and BlueWallet and never really took off.

So I guess my other question is, aside from LNDHub/NWC, are there any other options on the horizon? Or does this become a LNbits limitation instead?

Thankfully we're past an inflection point.

They can absolutely make it more controlled for the masses, but remember the "internet" as commonly known is just ~10% of the actual internet thanks to the highly centralised nature.

Accessibility points for the remaining 90% have been planted and are becoming increasingly common thanks to protocols like Meshtastic etc and to an extent even the recent Bitchat with messaging over Bluetooth.

You can't properly police protocols. Facebook, Youtube, they're not protocols, so they can and will be policed.

I think we'll begin to see more and more big platforms and content creators decentralise and make their own pockets in the internet (something we've started seeing with a lot of content creators) and by carving out their own space om the internet, they'll much more easily not be prone to censorship etc

Zero google on my Graphene... Move along officer.

Definitely not game over.

Just means either workarounds would need to be found, or people into custom ROMs, likely for its privacy/freedom properties, would movw to Linux-based phones, of which the options are increasingly common by the year.

+ Nextcloud Apps = Sovereign Cloud

+ Nextcloud Deck = Sovereign Project Management board

This is the way.

Thanks, it's good they took the time for this write-up, but hard-disagree on the premise.

A phone-number is increasingly linked to PII, and thus, so too become your Bitcoin purchases.

I and a lot of people I know do NOT have phonebook contacts as the main contacts page - Instead, linking this to Nostr, or potentially other social media platforms would've been a better way as it gave users a chance to not inherently attach PII.

Regardless of Vexl's future plans with ID, this is a risk that may come back to not only bite them, but especially their own users.

Potentially wasting resources that could be used elsewhere.

Run it on an LXC instead.

LXCs are much morw lightweight.

Buying with Robosats, and have used Bisq a lot in the past (waiting for Ligthtning for deposits in v2), though Robosats has improved tons so unsure if I'll use Bisq anytime soon.

Never bought with KYC.

Zeus self-custody wallet & Lightning node, and/or running self-hosted node if able with Alby Hub (easymode).
