Turning off approval bots for now. Activity has slowed a good bit here. This was really set up as a testing community and I kept posting so people from exploding heads would have a place to rally. But I don't really want any moderation work and it would be better for people to post in more topic specific places anywho. We need better UIs before communities are really useful imo. I might go work on one for a while if I can figure out what I'm doing there.

shut it down, god i hope it wasnt because of my one post? nostr:nevent1qqs9lpurs7mekc6fse6ju49tfgqlzxtrugrp9e25k596v00rgkm6pxcpzamhxue69uhkummnw3ezuendwsh8w6t69e3xj7szyrchl8m0lr36tmu4h0fqjkr83vpp3he96ff6xjzlw4kcw40xyz826qcyqqqqqqghqz3ue
really moderation should not be the concern of any one person on nostr as it works better as a group, i really think communities will form around moderation when we get a way to share and use specific lists and algos for it

No no. You're good. Honestly my rpi4's ssd keeps overheating and shuts down.i need to transfer it to a sdcard. And I don't want to make any moderation decisions. I just want to write code and have other people manage communities. That was always the case. I suck as a admin.
If you open a community I can walk you through setting up a approval bot. You just need a always in PC with docker installed. This place is new enough that it will likely grow in popularity. No matter the topic. EH gain the most hearts in a few weeks.
i dont agree with the current approval style communities so am not interested in running one
i did just have a good idea for your bot nostr:nevent1qqsdmtzpluql557qjwp78kujp0fhlkgfe3h0uwsm29wmnlpwjcpqfqqpzamhxue69uhkummnw3ezuendwsh8w6t69e3xj7szyrchl8m0lr36tmu4h0fqjkr83vpp3he96ff6xjzlw4kcw40xyz826qcyqqqqqqgke02u2 you could pick up the posts up via public notes or encrypted dms
point is to delegate posts from one npub to another npub
i think getting moderator lists will help nostr a lot, and those will become like communities as you will want like minded people to share the moderation work with

Oddly enough, I think a lot of this is over. The energy we had just vanished off the face of the earth...
From wolfballs to EH, to here... Now, in a TWitter formatted place, not a Reddit one, when the bulk of us were drawn more to the reddit style...
It's just gone.
For the same reason that there was never much energy on Gab, there is not much energy here.
I'll stop pop in here or there, but I think that a lot of my activity is just done with these things.
I'm not a tech guy so the ins & outs of alt tech itself does not super excite me. My background in this is in blogging, and it feels like I have just put a lot of effort into platforms that
- Don't have large audiences
- Disappear
- Don't really grow
- Don't have unexpected, new, fresh interaction
This is not a complaint about anyone or anything here... It's more of just facts. I am not saying WHY that has happened, simply, I am saying that THAT is what has happened, for whatever reason...
And, in a sense, it has illustrated my own impotence: I am not interesting enough to gather an audience, and I failed to be a high profile poster or content provider... I failed the tech that was in my hands.
