Bitcoiners are too tight fisted with their sats and don't appreciate the value given.
Like users and abusers, they mooch and have no real concept of V4V.

Users on the Nostr network are no different than any other social network. Most of us interact minimally with each other, and when we do it’s usually with the loudest voices. Zapping is cute, but it only makes me sadder to see such real value tossed to the same popular users over and over again.
Is it because “influencer” content is higher quality, or they work harder at it than so many other brilliant voices on this network? I don’t think so.
This is my only “pessimistic” take about all of Nostr, and it’s not even about Nostr.
Humans are followers. It’s not a bad thing, except for the fact of when we ban together to dethrone the “centeral power structure” … it never actually 💯 works this way.

I’m not sure I follow your criticism here. Nothing about a particular artist or creator being popular and making money makes Nostr itself more centralized. In fact it would attract even more artists who would see what’s possible and learn from those who have gone before them to pave the way, which would “decentralize” the content landscape even more. The trailblazers who are here right now figuring out how to make this all work to monetize their craft deserve whatever they manage to earn through those efforts. It’s a labor of love and a lot of time is spent for not a lot of return right now for those doing it. No different than devs building apps for pennies in return. Nothing is preventing anyone from zapping whomever they choose to zap, and no one is making anyone zap an influencer or any other person they don’t feel deserves it. Value4value is a feedback loop, positively and negatively, and what or whose work is valuable is very subjective when it comes to artists. Why does anyone in any artistic category/genre become popular? That’s not a new phenomenon to nostr or humanity, and isn’t inherently a bad thing.
I guess I wasn’t talking about creatives. Yes. We need more artists on nostr. And there is no bad part about zapping any one of these fine folks. Sorry, maybe I just needed to rant. 🤢
I don't really see creatives getting that many zaps. It's more a celebrity/Twitterati thing.
What celebrity does is make you seem rarer as a person and therefore increases your perceived scarcity, and people will pay more for something rare. That's what marketing is all about, and influencers and celebrities are expert marketers.
People pay more for a strong brand, than for actual content.
I guess that’s what my rant was about… it ain’t easy being a nobody on Nostr … but maybe it SHOULD be?
Just create smaller rooms for Nostriches to hang out in and it's easier to be a celebrity within that room. So long as everyone is only ever in one gigantic hall, those who are already ahead have an unbeatable advantage.
Once someone has become a niche celebrity, they can reenter the main market and have a chance of competing.
Not to mention the lurkers on here that constantly take memes without even a boost or a zap, and then post it on twitter as their own, where they get over a 1000 likes within a day.

Well, we could all maximize this effect for ourselves by simply posting sporadically/rarely and only responding to a few replies and then disappearing to wherever until the next scheduled sighting. Then people might greet you the next time with preemptive, hysterical please-reply, please-stay homage zaps.
It's less V4V and more them just chasing you around, throwing roses and begging for an autograph. 😅
I guess autographs are when you zap some sats back. Then it's like OMG I GOT A ZAP FROM A CELEBRITY. 🤩
As a celebrity I should definitely get more zaps.
I’m not popular. I have 200 followers, I have genuine conversations on here and get a lot of zaps. I get WAY more engagement and have a lot more fun, and make a lot more sales.
I zap a lot and don’t mind zapping.
And I sell portraits for ₿.
I think it’s simply because more eyeballs see the content from accounts like nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx. Follow nostr:npub18l3fyx3rtak2x2hnhqp50nyykszpycumff432kwtp3975qgnp7uq3qza55 and you’ll see plebs getting fat zaps as well.
Eyeballs are the currency of social media. Zaps don’t change this.
Reposts and comments allow influencer accounts to spread more eyeballs (and value) than likes and zaps ever will.

Zaps boost content into trending feeds. Also, it signals that the content is valuable especially if it’s zapped a lot by someone in your WoT.
