I haven't paid attention to politics or the news for about a year and it's been really wonderful.
I subscribe to a daily "headlines" email newsletter that is decently neutral and pretty basic - just enough to find out if there's an asteroid headed for Earth or something - but I rarely look at that, even.
Amen. Life is hectic enough without manufactured drama.
