is it possible to browse a feed and see it in the center?

the additional column takes too much space and moves the content to the right

I agree, currently the feed is a bit unbalanced on the right and this could be annoying. I would start reducing the width of the *first* sidebar, as already proposed.

A second step could be total collapse it, when the secondary feed sidebar is opened.

If your are ok with this direction I will mokup a design for that.

Mmh, you should visually jump from the left edge to the right one when you click "Feeds", I don't think it could works. Let me experiment a bit.
