it is better to have a smooth transition into the new world
US citizens are in more danger from the US government than any external threat. The empire should (and will) crumble, and we will all be better off. Right now the government requires little consent and faces no consequences for terrible actions.
A smooth transition is never going to happen. Damping volatility is how we got here in the first place. To wipe out the dying, diseased forest, requires a forest fire. Not everyone will be alright, and that is partly a consequence of people shirking personal responsibility.
Humanity has survived worse, if it requires a biblical flood to make way for a more just world, bring it.
