i wish there were a way in Nostr DMs to say “are you on Signal? can we discuss there? here’s my phone number: X” and it could just push the convo over there if the counter-party accepts

Wouldn't you need to find the other party your phone number to connect on Signal?
yeah, i do this already and would do it more, but it’s clunky. obviously would be better with npub exchange and some private relay to not leak DM metadata (and not waste relay resources)

I’m not sure if they are aware of Nostr.
What I see is that their underlying relay protocol is similar to Nostr publish subscribe.
