NIP-05 verification isn't exactly a spam filter, but it does filter out a LOT of spam. Look at how the disk space on my relay started rising once the spammers found it, and then went back to normal as soon as I started enforcing NIP-05 verification to write events.

Really useful return thanks! Do you think to enable Relay payments regarding thΓ© spammers?

I want to keep it free and accessible as a free speech relay. I just don't want it filling up with Gigabytes of porn links and other such nonsense. Switching NIP-05 verification to 'enabled' in config.toml filters out most of the most egregious spam. It's easy enough to get NIP-05 verified and a lot of clients will do it for you. But spam bots usually aren't NIP-05 verified.

Yes you're right, we'll see if the spammers act as they are supposed to. Did you see this repo ?

https://github.com/kofj/nostr-rs-relay

Nice antispam feature

Oh it's a fork scsi-bug's nostr-rs-relay. I just added that to my watchlist. Thanks for pointing it out.

how can I do that

Depends on the relay implementation that you're running. I'm using this one: https://github.com/scsibug/nostr-rs-relay.git

There's a setting for it in config.toml

oh good same

someone was talking about something that needs ot be done in nginx too

Really wish administrative controls were here. Be really good to have the ability to delete posts after a certain number of days

Is that not standard? I was going to ask if that were a setting you could enable.

I guess you can probably script it out on a cron job (especially if storage is postgres, e.g.), but I would have thought that was an absolutely no-brainer setting to have.

What relay software are you and #[0] using btw?

alot of legit people are not Nip-05 on their accounts.

Take this to the extreme and they effectively semi deplatformed.

iris gives away free nips05, so they have no excuse.

tell this to non-english speaking plebs in asia, africa, south america, eastern europe. even I have bypassed doing so, and im a bitcointer who uses Nostr AND zap people

Hello, What resources are you using to run this relay? CPU? Memory? SSD and Bandwidth?
