They’re possible, no? Click and hold post, copy note ID, paste in new not with “@[note ID]”. Type away!
This feels like something that someone could make a quick pr for. Have to add the option after clicking repost, copy the note id, have it pre-populated in a new note with a leading return and '@', and place the cursor at the start of the message.
