Of course, why should the gvt go through the headaches of pushing this legally when the likes of Apple/Google/Fbk can do it with your permission with way less friction? Seems like a no brainer to me
A lot of SV tech companies are just private sector arms of the intel agencies, and a lot of their “product innovations” are birthed out of DARPA and co. A lot of their staffers are also “former employees of the IC”. With that in mind, this shouldn’t surprise you. They knew you wouldn’t go for the gvt issued one from the front door and they know most will opt for the Apple version of the same thing.
