I'm more of a DIY guy. I really like the SeedSigner. I just ordered the parts and I found pre-printed enclosures, although I may take the print file to 3D printing service instead. I gotta see the price difference. If it's significantly cheaper to have it printed, I'll obviously go with that but if the difference is $5-$10 cheaper, I'll just order a pre-fab version from BTC Hardware Solutions. I like tinkering, and the SeedSigner appeals to that mindset.
As it is right now, my cold storage private key is just on paper sitting in a safe deposit box at the bank. I've been looking at hardware signers for a while now and have settled on the SeedSigner for the reasons I explained above. It's a purpose-built, DYI, open-source hardware and software device that provides for easy, air-gapped signing.
I may upgrade to something more sophisticated after using it for a while, but I very rarely send transactions from my cold wallet. Given its stateless nature, I could also use it for for signing transactions on my hot wallet as that wallet gets more use than the cold storage wallet. I'm just taking things slow.
