6 months after I finished building this staircase, I'm finally done with sanding and varnishing the stairs, and painting the skirtings. Cleaning up and caulking this tomorrow.

Stunning! The stain is even and rich, I am certain that it took quite as much time as the actual carpentry, lighting, and installation. Excellent!
