Feeling kind of conflicted about the prospect of relays deleting old content. On one hand, that's kinda how Mastodon handles old stuff in order to keep storage requirements down, on the other hand, Nostr is supposed to be immutable, and if it's just like Mastodon, and only keeps your data if you pay

Well, friend-o, I'm paying for a Mastodon server, so what would then be the difference?

I kind of like the free relays deleting old events. Especially if they keep the contact list and mutes and profile stuff.

If you want a long history pay for a relay that retains the data.

Since when was someone really better off by a very old tweet of theirs being surfaced?

It’s not so much about resurfacing old embarrassing stuff but just that, sometimes I write stuff I’d like to keep haha but maybe I should look at hosting a relay
