We kinda only watch horror movies and sci-fi television and are always looking for new suggestions.

My "I will always watch this" movies are all of the original 80s Friday the 13th movies. They got a little crazy with it in the 90s and later, pretty much anything Halloween, People Under the Stairs, The Omen, and Hellraiser.

Ooh, thanks!

Yeah I have some recommendations 😁

My family would always watch at least these three sometime in October:

Sleepy Hollow (the Tim Burton one)

Practical Magic

Hocus Pocus (this one usually on Halloween night)

Other really good ones:

As Above, So Below

The Cabin in the Woods

The Awakening

Crimson Peak

Skeleton Key

Alien

Scream

Trying to remember my other faves even as I ask other folks for reccs 😁

How about Society 1989? I think? Also one of my favorites is Ravenous 1999.

My mom (who has been my lifelong horror watching buddy) LOVES Ravenous but it freaked me out so bad as a kid, especially the music πŸ˜‚ I can handle it better now but somehow the music still gets me

Love that soundtrack! Profoundly creepy yet bizarrely addictive

Ravenous reminds me: another one my mom loved that I used to not be able to deal with (but now I love it) is Jeepers Creepers.

I’ve never heard of Society 1989 but maybe I should check it out!

I had a thread going... hol up

Ooh thanks!

Of course! You got any to add to my list?

I gotta think about it! I’ll add if I can.

I definitely have post-2000 horror movies I love, but I’m not sure they’re β€œscare your pants off” level.

Me and nostr:npub1r8u6lw8c2h67s66magtqu78vtpckfzcsmmdsg06gqm723njsunfs8kfjwl just finished "Talk To Me" and it was damn good.

I’ve thought about it some and remembered that most of my post-2000 faves really did legit scare me at times, which is pretty rare nowadays. I guess I just mostly remember how good they were for suspense and plot, but they’re good for scares, too:

As Above, So Below (2014)

The Awakening (2011)

Crimson Peak (2015)

Eyes Without a Face (Georges Franju, 1960)
