Is it my imagination, or are self custody lightning wallets going down the can?

I’m trying to load some wallets for real world spending at an upcoming Bitcoin conference and later a halving party and I can’t seem to get any decent self custody options.

Does anybody have any recommendations?

To connect to your node, I like Zeus. Their integrated node seems to work well too. Mutiny is popular, but I had my channel force close for seemingly no reason and got rugged (never got those sats back). Otherwise, I've had no issues with Phoenix wallet as a backup to my personal node.

But seeing as how popular they are, I'd guess you've tried them and don't like them.

Thanks for the feedback,

Zeus seems to be stuck at the loading screen, I may try uninstalling and reloading.

Phoenix is giving my warning about fees exceeding my limit to open my first inbound channel?

And I haven't tried Mutiny yet, so gonna give that a go now, thanks.

Umbrel + lnbits works fine for me

Thanks fren, haven't tried lnbits yet

Is that an Android app, can't find it on the iOS store?

Just seen, it's an Umbrel backend partitioner. What do you use as a front end, or do you use it from the web?

I use Zeus to connect via lnhub connection

My Zeus died a death, I'll try re-installing it again, but I've had issues before.

Huh, is it a particular connection that's dead? Or what's the issue?

The whole wallet refuses to go past the loading screen. I had it setup years ago with 2 of my nodes via a VPN, but they changed the way it worked and I didn't bother touching it until now.

Lnbits sits on top of your node (literally any implementation of node) and offers sub wallets for different users. If you're brave, you could also put lnbits on clearnet as it's an in-between layer. There's also some other nice features like cashu mints, boltcards etc.

Thanks, I'm more looking at iOS wallets. I have the back end sorted already.
