They just don’t make them like they used to…

Since 1901, a light bulb has been flashing at the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department in California.

The Centennial Light was handcrafted by Adolphe Chaillet, the founder of Shelby Electric Company in the 1890s. The light bulb was also featured by Guinness Book of World Records.

It's called planned obsolescence and corporations have been employing this tactic since after WWII. they know if they make a product that is of good quality and name they can reduce the life span by using sub par quality parts and people will still continue to repurchase the same item or a "new and improved" version.

We used to live in a world where quality was more important than quantity. However today there is a different story being told.

Your customer base would dry up after 30 years and it would be a self inflicted wound.

As an electrician I can tell you, that they produce more heat, then light.

They are more durable than some of the new technologies, but they are not efficient.
