Around this time 5 years ago I purchased my first #Bitcoin ASICS. I paid Bitcoin to a guy in Russia I had never met and prayed that it wasn’t a scam. The ASICS came, but the aha moment for me was that I had never actually used Bitcoin to make a purchase.

About a year later, I was setting up a large mining location and needed a lot of ASICS and had to do a wire transfer. I had never sent a wire before and was shocked at how complicated, slow and awful the user experience was.

I’m grateful that I used Bitcoin before sending a wire because it burned into my brain how much of an improvement it is over the legacy financial system; and all of this before widespread use of the lightning network.

The lesson here is use Bitcoin. Spend and replace when possible. Send small amounts on Nostr / Damus to random plebs. The transformative power of the system is in using it. It makes you see Bitcoin for what it truly is…freedom.
