When hiring out help I’ve incorporated a new contractor payment method and it has so far seemed to work out great.

Pay per job/task instead of per hour. You get more motivation when one can make more for doing more. They also develop better time efficiency.

Create a list of tasks and put a price to them. Easier jobs pay less and take less time. Harder jobs pay more and take more time. People figure out efficiency when incentivized and will often get 2-3x the work done because they get paid more. The added bonus is this method makes for more simple job quotes due to labor rates being fixed.
